(SportsNetwork.com) - The Eastern Conferences best team takes on one of its worst Tuesday night when the Atlanta Hawks pay a visit to the Wells Fargo Center to take on the Philadelphia 76ers. The Hawks have opened up a four-game cushion in the Eastern Conference over the Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors. Theyve won eight straight, 22 of 24 and eight in a row on the road, which is a single-season franchise record. This is the latest into the season Atlanta has led the conference since winning the East in the 1993-94 season. The road run is impressive and will be challenged as the Hawks embark on a four-game trip, starting Tuesday in South Philadelphia. On Sunday, the Hawks winning streak reached eight with a 120-89 home demolition of the Wizards. They were ahead by 10 after three quarters, then trounced the Wizards, 33-12, over the final 12 minutes. Kyle Korver hit 5-for-7 from long distance and led eight Hawks in double figures with 19 points. DeMarre Carroll gave 16 points with four steals, Al Horford netted 15 points and Jeff Teague had 11 with a game-high 10 assists for Atlanta. Its great for us to be able to win at home like that, said Horford. Pero Antic (12), Paul Millsap (11), Mike Scott (11) and Dennis Schroder (10) rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Hawks. Atlanta committed only nine turnovers against the Wizards, while Washington had 20. The Hawks also shot a blistering 51.6 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. The Hawks will visit the Boston Celtics, Raptors and Bulls on this trip north. The Sixers are enjoying an honest-to-goodness, two-game winning streak. Thats happened only once before this season, but Philly is playing better ball as evidenced by three wins in its last four games. The Sixers, who toppled the Nets in Brooklyn on Friday, returned home Saturday night and knocked off the Indiana Pacers, 93-92. Michael Carter-Williams drove for the go-ahead basket with 9.9 seconds left in regulation and the Sixers held on for the victory. Carter-Williams finished with 15 points, the biggest two coming in crunch time when the reigning Rookie of the Year drove past three defenders and scooped in the deciding layup over the imposing Roy Hibbert. David West missed a contested fadeaway jumper from the top of the key just before the buzzer to seal the Sixers fifth win in their last 11 games. Tony Wroten added 20 points off the bench, and he and Carter-Williams both totaled nine assists. Robert Covington chipped in 16 points for the Sixers, who havent scored 100 points in regulation since Dec. 1. We play hard regardless (of our record), Wroten said. For us to come away (with a win) at home feels great. The Hawks beat the Sixers by 16 in Atlanta on Dec. 10 and have won five straight in the series. Philly is 4-2 in its last six as the host versus Atlanta. Cheap Jordan 11 Concords . LOUIS -- Known for his game-managing and defensive skills, Yadier Molina made another statement with his bat. Happ tries to win for the fifth time in six starts tonight when the Toronto Blue Jays continue a three-game series with the Minnesota Twins. Happ bounced back from an ugly loss to Kansas City to win in Detroit on Thursday, as he held the Tigers to three runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings to improve to 5-2 to go along with a 4.12 ERA. In two games (1 start) versus the Twins, Happ is 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA. After getting shut out in back-to-back games Toronto seemed to get back on track in Mondays opener, as Kevin Pillar singled home pinch-runner Erik Kratz in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Blue Jays to a 5-4 win. The Twins erased a 4-2 deficit in the top of the ninth, but Matt Guerrier (0-1) walked the leadoff batter, Dioner Navarro, who was replaced by Kratz. After Anthony Gose struck out on a failed bunt attempt, Casey Fien took over for Guerrier. Jose Reyes then lined a single to right field -- his third hit of the game -- and Pillar followed with a blooper to right to score Kratz and end the Blue Jays two-game skid. Edwin Encarnacion blasted a three-run homer for AL East-leading Toronto, which was coming off conseccutive 5-0 losses to St.dddddddddddd Louis over the weekend. Danny Santana and Brian Dozier clubbed back-to-back homers off Toronto starter R.A. Dickey to begin the game, but the knuckleballer settled down to pitch into the sixth inning. "The more aggressive I became, the better result I started having," Dickey said. Kurt Suzuki had three hits in Minnesotas fourth loss in five games. Toronto could stay in the win column on Tuesday, as it goes up against Twins righty Kevin Correia, who is a miserable 2-7 with a 6.11 ERA. Correia couldnt hold a four-run lead on Thursday against Milwaukee and fell for the fourth time in five decisions, as he allowed five runs and 10 hits in five innings. As bad as hes been, though, the Twins dont plan on moving him from the rotation anytime soon. "Kevins one of our starters," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "Hes paid good money to do that, and hes still gonna get paid no matter what, so hes one of our starters. We need him to be more consistent." Correia is 1-3 with a 6.48 ERA in six games (4 starts) against Toronto. Minnesota won two of three when these teams squared off in April. ' ' '
