Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - U.S. Soccer has suspended womens national team goalkeeper Hope Solo for 30 days following reports she didnt cooperate with police during a traffic stop in the Los Angeles area this week. Womens national team coach Jill Ellis said Solos poor decision was the root of her suspension. Solo, who has won two Olympic gold medals as the teams starting goalkeeper, was released from training camp and will miss overseas matches against France on Feb. 8 and England on Feb. 13, the team said. She was in the car when her husband, former NFL tight end Jerramy Stevens, was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence. TMZ.com first reported the arrest and that Solo was uncooperative with police. U.S. Soccer said her suspension stems from an incident that occurred while the team was holding training camp in Carson, California. During our current national team camp, Hope made a poor decision that has resulted in a negative impact on U.S. Soccer and her teammates, Ellis said in a statement. We feel at this time it is best for her to step away from the team. Solo, 33, will be eligible for reinstatement after the 30-day suspension, pending review and approval by U.S. Soccer and Ellis. Domestic violence charges against Solo were dropped last week in Washington state when a judge dismissed the case after agreeing that the alleged victims hadnt cooperated during the investigation. Solo said the decision meant she can focus with a clear mind on training for this years Womens World Cup in Canada. She was arrested last June 21 in Kirkland, Washington, and charged with two counts of fourth-degree domestic violence assault over accusations she attacked her sister and nephew, who was then 17 years old. Solo, who plays for the Seattle Reign in the National Womens Soccer League, won Olympic gold medals with the American team in 2008 and 2012 and has had previous scrapes with the law.
